1. Admit your mistakes and apologise
If a broken relationship is caused by you, the most important thing that you must do is admitting you’re wrong and apologising.
It is not easy to admit that you’re wrong and apologise, it takes great courage. Someone once said, mistakes are always forgivable if you are willing to admit them.
Ask yourself, which one is more important, your ego or your relationship with that person? Admitting your mistakes is not a weakness, but a sign of maturity.
2. Be willing and determined to become a better person
By admitting your mistakes, you will learn to improve yourself and become a better person in the future. But if you keep denying your mistakes, how will you learn?
Apologies are of no use if you, in reality, do not become a better person. You have to have the determination to never repeat the same mistakes again, because if you keep repeating them, it’s best to never apologise.
3. Don’t blame others
You are not a little kid anymore, if you are the one who makes mistakes, don’t blame them on other people. As elaborated in the first point, you have to have the courage to admit that you are wrong and apologise.
If you always blame other people for the mistakes that you make, you behave unprofessionally, and other people who see or know about this will no longer respect you because your image is bad in their eyes.
4. Appreciate each other
To maintain a good relationship, you and the other person have to appreciate each other. Every human being needs to feel appreciated. With whom do you have a bad relationship? A family member, a friend or your partner?
Regardless who the person is, take some time to reflect, do you appreciate them enough? If the answer is no, it’s time for you to start appreciating them more to repair the broken relationship.
5. Give something special
When you apologise, you can also bring a special gift for the person whose feelings you’ve hurt. A special gift should be put in a special gift box. This way, that person will feel that you are sincere.
