It is common for graphic designers to spend long hours sitting and staring passionately at a monitor screen. Their job requires them to do so. But you’ve heard that sitting all day long is not good for your health. Graphic designers need to pay attention to their health too. Here are seven perfect exercises for graphic designers to stay healthy. Don’t forget to do all the exercises below every day.

1. Get your posture right

It starts with the correct posture. Before you start doing all the exercises below, make sure that your posture is right. Look at the picture above, the right picture shows the correct sitting position. You should sit with your back straight and your shoulders back.

Sit properly for a healthy back. Incorrect sitting position will only harm your back sooner or later.


2. Exercise for wrists

You should not forget about your wrists. Your wrists play an important role in creating those beautiful designs. That’s why you should exercise your wrists often throughout the day.

There are some exercises for wrists. But you can simply do the simple one. Roll your wrists clockwise and counterclockwise. 10 – 15 times should be enough. But do this exercise every hour for healthy wrists.


3. Tricep dips

This one is to strengthen your triceps, and your core too. Simply grab a chair to do this exercise, but make sure that the chair you choose is a good one.

Pay attention to the picture above and follow it. You have to make sure that your bottom does not touch the floor. Try to do tricep dips in thirty seconds to one minute full every hour.


4. Bicep curls

You can bring a dumbbell or a resistance band and keep it near you. Bicep curl is a good arm exercise. You don’t have to do this exercise very often, just three times a day, and each time do up to 20 repetitions.

It’s up to you whether you want to do bicep curls standing or sitting.

5. Neck exercise

Your neck can get stiff if you keep on staring at your monitor screen for hours. To prevent neck stiffness, you can move your neck by turning your head to the right, down, left and up. Do it slowly and gently.

It is recommended to do this exercise often, like every 10 to 20 minutes. This exercise is really good for your neck.


6. Leg extensions

When you are sitting on your chair, extend your leg (you can choose either left or right leg first) until it is level with your hip. You can hold it as long as you can, then relax your leg. Switch sides. Do 10 times for each leg, three to four times a day.


7. Abdominal stretch

You can practice this exercise without having to move from your chair. All you have to do is sitting on the edge of your chair and stretching your arms out in front of you. Next, contract your abdominal muscles. You should keep your back straight. Relax then repeat for five times every hour.
